Dana Point Harbor Department - WWW.DPHPLAN.COM. This is the official County of Orange site for their proposed plan for Dana Point Harbor "Revitalization." We use this site frequently to obtain the official documents. We have requested that the Dana Point Boaters Association be added as a link from their site but we have been denied. The reason given is that boaters are not "Tenants" in the harbor.

County of Orange – WWW.OCGOV.COM. This is the official web site for the County of Orange. The Dana Point Harbor Department is one of the many departments that make up the County of Orange and ultimately reports to County CEO Tom Mauk who is accountable to the five Supervisors that make up the County Board of Supervisors. Supervisor Pat Bates was elected to represent the interests of the Fifth District which includes Dana Point Harbor. Contacts for all of these individuals and others can be found here. In addition there are two elected individuals that have an impact on Boaters in Dana Point; Orange County Tax Assessor, Webster J. Guillory and Orange County Tax Collector and Treasurer, Chriss W. Street. Their Departments can be found at WWW.OCGOV.COM/ASSESSOR and WWW.TTC.OCGOV.COM/TREAS respectively. Lastly if you feel you have been the victim, or you are aware of any impropriety within the harbor, you can report it at WWW.OCGOV.COM/AUDIT/FRAUD.ASP.

California Coastal Commission - The California Coastal Commission has the responsibility to enforce the 1976 California Coastal Act. All operations within our harbor fall within the California Coastal Commission's jurisdiction. The Landside of our Harbor is controlled by a certified Local Coastal Program, LCP, and is currently "owned" by the City of Dana Point. The California Coastal Commission can be found at: WWW.COASTAL.CA.GOV/. The California Coastal Commission meets once a month for a 3-4 day session. The meetings can occur anywhere throughout the state. The agenda, rulings and video/audio records of the meetings can be found on the site. The California Coastal Commission has a staff of approximately 100 individuals that do the hard work of evaluating proposals, generating recommendations, and providing enforcement. The staff responsible for our Harbor work out of Long Beach.

Dana Point City - As mentioned above the City of Dana Point "owns" the Local Coastal Program for landside areas in our harbor. While the County runs the harbor and the City leaves it for the County of Orange to insure that the terms of the Local Coastal Program are being adhered to it is the City that must officially submit the Local Coastal Program Amendment that will allow the County to expand the number and size of the Stores and Restaurants. Both the City Council (meets every other week) and the City's Planning Commission (meets every other week) handle Dana Point Harbor planning issues. The City's web site is: WWW.DANAPOINT.ORG/.
